MSR offers a potential large scale of power options:
– low power, SMR ( Small Modular Reactors ), ranging from 30 to 300 MW, which is the highest power possible limit for transport by trucks (diameter < 3,50m). Organizations working on the spin offs from MIT are: Terrapower (financed by Bill Gates), Transatomic (financed by Peter Thiel, investor in PayPal, eBay, Facebook), Terrestrial Energy (Canada), Moltex Energy (UK), NRG (Netherlands), Chinese General Nuclear Power (a 60 MW reactor announced for year 2020), and a Russian company proposing a 2 x 35 MW power plant,
– high power, eventually obtained by assembling several modules ( Terrestrial Energy).
